Dream me woke up to another morning in a dystopian post apocalyptic realm. As I was waking I struggled to remember how life had become this way. Zombies? War? Plague? The more I tried to think about it, the less it seemed to matter.
Remembering the events of the past wouldn't change my life today.
I lived in a run down block of flats amongst some family, a few friends and pleasant neighbours. Life wasn't perfect but we were a happy community, scavenging what we could from the outside world and making the best of the indoor village we'd created.
I had a very elderly dog. In the past he was a fierce and trusty companion who protected me on errands. He was too old and frail to go out now so he'd stay inside waiting to happily greet me whenever I'd return. I'd always try to return with something for him in my backpack for being such a good boy.
That day, he died. I cuddled him and I cried. What was I going to do without my best friend? I was approached by a wise elderly man who comforted me.
By the elderly mans side was the biggest duck I had ever seen. It was plump and reached the elderly mans waist in height. It was also navy blue. I asked the elderly man about his duck. "This is a wishing duck" he told me. "When raising ducks, some of them are born blue. Tell each of the blue ducks a wish and if any of them grow to an abnormal size, they will grant the wish you gave them."
The elderly man told me he'd left some seeds for me in my postal locker. He suggested I should plant them and start growing some ducks... (not how ducks work but ok?). I got up to head to my locker and he called after me "You can only tell each blue duck one wish and you can't tell the same wish to two."
Time skipped ahead and I had taken well to raising ducks (yeah from seeds apparently). The community got fresh eggs (not sure how, ducks grow from seeds now) and I had something to focus my time and energy on. One day my eyes opened wide with hope and excitement. I had ONE blue duck. I spent time raising him and caring for him until one day I picked him up to tell him my wish - I wished to have my dog back.
The duck shrivelled up and deflated like an old balloon.

Tummy spiders
In reality we all contain stomach acid to help break down our food. In my dream however, our bodies held a secret of a different method... a darker method.
Instead of stomach acid we all contained hundreds of spiders that would break down our food. This was a medical secret that was kept from the public. Instead we were all lead to believe that we contain ACID (yeah, right!) and the only reason that spiders are found inside of the deceased is because they crawl into our mouths at night. In my dream, this conspiracy made perfect sense. I'd like to pause here to clearly point out and remind you, this is a dream I had, not a genuine conspiracy. Please don't run with this.
I only found out the truth when my spiders started crawling up and out of my mouth. A woman in the hospital bed beside me had a similar problem. Although... her spiders were crawling out of her butt. I was assured by the doctor that her situation was far more unpleasant than mine.
Through a webbed mouth I advised him it wasn't a competition and suggested he shut up.
// After this dream journal entry I feel I need to start a separate nightmare journal.

Mirrors
I had a dream that I took no actual part in. Instead, I just observed. It started with a small boy playing alone in the woods. He stopped playing for a minute when something caught his eye. He took a few steps forwards, knelt down and began brushing dead leaves and twigs aside.
Beaneath the debris was a shard of an old broken mirror. He quickly became captivated by it, talking back and forth with something in the reflection that I couldn't see. When the conversation came to an end, he nodded, put the shard in his pocket and started heading home; seemingly obeying a command he'd received from the shard of mirror.
Upon returning home, the small boy headed to the bathroom while removing the shard of mirror from his pocket and continued the conversation. He placed the shard down in front of the bathroom mirror as requested and left.
Inside of that small shard of mirror was a dark entity that had become trapped many years before when the mirror was whole. When the mirror shattered it gave the dark entity a chance to be set free, it just had to wait for another unsuspecting victim. The dark entity broke free of it's own mirror when it was shattered and now it could infect the nearby bathroom mirror of it's own free will. It would trap the first person to look in the bathroom mirror, setting itself free.
Once trapped, the victim would remain stuck in the mirror slowly turning more and more bitter after countless years of being trapped. The only way to escape? If that mirror one day shatters and they can enter a new mirror to find another victim.

Polly
I dreamt I had a pet mouse. She was white with black eyes, her name was Polly.
Polly wasn't like other mice. She learned to wave, shake my hand and do her own laundry. Just like any other ordinary pet mouse, Polly didn't wear clothes. I never asked her why she did laundry.
She didn't seem to be able to regulate her size which was often inconsistent. Sometimes she'd be at knee height but other times she would shrink so small she could hide beneath a pencil shaving, which I found her doing on more than one occasion. She would hide beneath pencil shavings to shelter from the rain.
Polly could speak, but only to me. She had a very soft voice so I'd have to hold her in my hand and bring her up right next to my ear. Polly told me she was sad, sad that I was going away.
I didn't remember leaving or where I had gone to. When I returned, Polly was gone.
I asked around and learned that Polly had gone looking for me although, nobody knew where that was. I went looking for Polly but never found her. Everywhere I turned I just kept seeing people dressed in grey mouse costumes surrounding me.
I woke up wanting a pet mouse, but it wouldn't be the same.

Portable beehive
I had a dream that I was walking through a forest village, there were some cobblestone houses but a lot of the residents had made homes in hills & trees with a few tents dotted
around. It was cute!
As I continued walking, a lady approached me. She was holding one of those little pet carriers designed for small rodents. She'd turned it into a portable beehive & asked if I wanted to try some of the honey her bees had made.
She then told me she had run out of teaspoons so I'd have to scoop the honey with my fingers... she was thorough at explaining how aswell.
"Only use 2 fingers to scoop!" she went. "I don't want you using your whole hand & taking ALL of the honey!"
I had a scoop of tasteless honey. I was disappointed but figured I'd just say thank you to her then carry on with my day. At that point one of my friends walked by & noticed a sign that was on the lid of the portable beehive. "OMG! £20 for 1 teaspoon of honey?! That's really expensive!"
I'd been shafted! Crazy bee lady hadn't pointed out I had to pay & I didn't get a full teaspoons worth of disappointing honey either! A busy market had appeared in the time it had taken for the crazy bee lady to con me, so as more people came over to complain of how expensive the honey was (like they were paying for me or something?!)... I snuck away into the market without paying.
Later on I was walking back & saw 2 more of my friends. The crazy bee lady was nowhere to be seen but they had her portable beehive which they had opened & were scooping handfuls of the honey into there mouths. The bees were stuck in the honey they were eating, with each scoop they were eating more & more bees. "Mmm, this honey is spicy" one of them said.

The cats kitchen
My dream started with me in an old fashioned kitchen with a fireplace. I was holding a tiny cat who wore 4 layers of leather coats to make himself appear bigger. I popped him down and he shot
up the chimney. This seemed to be some sort of catflap because it wasn't long before tonnes of cats were entering and exiting the kitchen this way.
All of the cats were strange. They either had a bizarre but oddly human personality or just looked completely out of the ordinary. One of the cats that came in was dark green and had prominent golden claws, he was known as "the Christmas cat".
I looked around for a while and noticed some birds. Just normal, bog-standard birds. Since they were the only normal looking animals in the kitchen I turned to a lady (no idea who she was but it was her kitchen) and said "hey, I like your birds". She stood up and replied "oh... how did they get in here?". She then ushered them into a baking tray and flung them out of the window, baking tray and all.
I then spotted some more "birds". Well, actually little round cat heads with wings. They were hover-sleeping above a cat bed. "What's the point of the bed then?" I thought.

The hoop
I dreamt about a hula hoop that believed it was human. In order to convince people that it was one of them, it fashioned itself a body out of whatever it could find in amongst the rubbish.
It had a creepy old dolls head, trolley wheels for feet and metal coat hanger arms.
It had even found a discarded trench coat so hung it up inside of itself in a desperate attempt to look like it was wearing clothing.
I couldn't understand why it was trying so hard to be human. It didn't behave like one or have much of a life. It enjoyed spending it's days hanging out in alleyways, rummaging through bins for treasures that humans considered trash. It would also do it's best to hide out of sight of people. I guess it just felt that it didn't look convincing enough to show itself to real people yet.
I'm unsure why the hula hoop was the bit that was alive and not one of the other components. I didn't see it piece itself together so I don't know how I knew which bit was alive. I was just unlucky enough to bump into it one evening when out for a walk.
That's the only time people were likely to see it. It would emerge from it's hiding place... when it was dark out.

That's not a red panda
I dreamt I was leaving work one evening and started to walk to the bus stop. There was an unclear obstruction at the top of the road I'd normally walk down on my usual route so I went down another street. Further down the new street I came to a strange carnival.
It was deserted but I thought I could see a clear route through.
After a few minutes I realised that with every turn I made through this carnival I was getting more and more lost. Like an old video game loading, every time I took a path I believed to be the exit I'd find market stalls popping up in my way. That's when I started to hear footsteps wandering around somewhere close by.
To begin with I assumed the worst. "I'm being followed? There's an unsavoury character looming?" I pulled myself together and started thinking straight. "Maybe it's a caretaker or a security guard?" I thought. "I'll call out to them and ask where the exit is, then I'll be on my way home like this never happened". So I called out.
A caretaker popped his head out of one of the market stalls and spoke to me. A few seconds later old school and college friends started to show up and the carnival came to life. There were funfair rides, a petting zoo and stalls selling food and general gift shop items to name a few attractions. Some stalls had games consoles and even machines that you'd expect to find in an amusement arcade.
Everybody was hushing and saying "don't post any photo's online just incase we get fined" because the COVID-19 lockdown is a thing in my dreams too, apparently. I decided to wander over to the petting zoo but then I'd go straight home. I'm not strictly a rule breaker, but I do like animals so I just wanted to have a quick look on my way past.
The animals were just plain weird and off putting. There was what was not a red panda. It looked like one but it's face was on the underside of it's body so if it was walking on all fours it had no choice but to stare at the ground. It stood up on it's hind legs and looked over the fence at me. To my horror I saw it had a human mouth. It kept giving me this odd grin. I shuffled away to look at the other animals but the "not a red panda" kept following me along the fence and grinning at me.
The other animals weren't much better. Even the goats were strange and didn't look right. I decided to call it a night so found the caretaker again and asked him if I could leave. He pointed to the exit which I ran to, then patiently waited for my bus home.

Circlips
I dreamt that Michael Jackson was still alive and had only faked his death. He was found living with his sister (Janet Jackson) in a discarded KFC box out at sea and they sold circlips online to make a living.
Nothing else, just circlips specifically.
As I started to wake up and realise I was dreaming, still half asleep I overheard a news reporter saying "Michael Jackson has been found alive in a girls dream" as if that was the most shocking part of the story. Not the fact that two people were living within a small floating cardboard box (which they made into their home and business) that somehow hadn't lost it's structural integrity despite being in the ocean. Oh, and they apparently had a decent wi-fi connection out there.
